MiLO is a band emerging from the Los Angeles downtown artist scene. Their separate elements strangely mold themselves onto the feel-good synapses of the listener.
With the writing team of Swedish Composer Mikael Sandgren and Jamaican/American Singer Lola Gayle, the outcome is much different than even they had originally thought.
Theirs is a kind of music blending Nordic melancholy progressions with pop melodies, unique odd meter beats, vintage Blue Note era vocals and gritty arrangements. Their sound can be described as "dirty-pretty". Both were classically trained starting at an early age, and Mikael was also mentored by Ghana's Obilie Koffie at 14.
MiLO's lyrics are cryptic and poetic that after a few listens, unravel into emotional statements about human frailty and beauty – the futility but ultimate victory of the human endeavor.
